After initially signing a design engineering contract in Sept 07, Novenco’s Offshore division in Oslo, Norway have now secured the order for a complete turnkey project from the COSCO Shipyard group in Zhoushan, China.
GM4000 design
The contract is for delivering the HVAC systems to a semi-submersible vessel based on GM4000 design.
GM4000 will be delivered from COSCO to Norwegian Maracc Company in January 2010, after a 34 month construction period. It is designed for worldwide operation and more specifically for North Sea conditions.
Because of this, the Norwegian Offshore rules and regulations NORSOK H-001, S-002 and S-003 will be implemented, as well as ISO 15138. This was a major advantage to Novenco during the bid process.
DP3 dynamic positioning systems
The semi submersible will be equipped with DP3 dynamic positioning systems and includes a 120 man living quarter and utility areas. The rig will have functions for drilling, well completion function and construction services.
It will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 1000 meters and will be self-propelled, with max. speed 10 – 12 knots.
Scope of supply
Equipment supply includes air handling units, fans, starter panels, self contained units, fan coil units, cabin units, heat traced drop separators, grilles, diffusers, different damper types, chiller package including local controls, Spiro ductwork and attenuators.
A kick off meeting was held in Dalian, China in week 02 this year, design freeze is expected before Easter and the first equipment will be delivered to site in Q3/Q4 2008.
